Nearly six new miles of the Westmoreland Heritage Trail will be opened to the public at separate ceremonies on Sept. 30.
The third phase of the trail is a 5.92-mile section beginning near the intersection of Forbes Road and the Turtle Creek Industrial Railroad in Trafford and continuing east to a property near Airgas on Route 22 in Murrysville.
Grand opening celebrations will take place in the following locations:
• 10 a.m. at the Roberts trail access, near Airgas on William Penn Highway in Murrysville.
• 11:15 a.m. at the Saunders Station Road trail access in Monroeville.
• Noon at the Trafford trail access near Parkside Creamery on Forbes Road.
