Musical theater lovers can sneak a glimpse of what’s on tap for North Hills area schools during Twilight Night at Memorial Park Church.

High school actors and singers will perform a peek of their spring musicals at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at the church, 8800 Peebles Road.

Students from eight schools will put on the showcase, offering the community a chance to preview what’s coming later this spring. Schools include Fox Chapel Area, Shaler, North Hills, Avonworth, Hampton, Northgate, Pine Richland and North Allegheny.

“Every spring, Pittsburgh area high schools produce fabulous musicals, spending many hours in rehearsal and a wide variety of budgets,” said Jim Lueers, arts director at Memorial Park. “This event is an attempt to level the playing field with no costumes or props to just get a scoop on their musical plans.”

This is the third annual event and the response was so positive last year that it is expanded to two nights this year, he said.

Admission is a give-what-you-can donation to North Hills Community Outreach, which provides food and financial help to people in need in northern Allegheny County communities.

“This event brings students and musical lovers together to use their gifts for the good of the community,” Lueers said.
