Children from the north Hills who attended 5th annual Constitution Day celebration on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 participated in a poster contest and other activities to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution.

Kids from around the North Hills gathered at Northland Public Library recently to commemorated Constitution Week with activities, a poster contest and a historical demonstration.

Students and their families attending the 5th annual event gathered to ring bells to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution and to enjoy a program about how the Constitution was made in 1787.

The Wildwood Long Rifle group brought colonial history to life for families including a firing of a time period cannon.

The 2018 “We the People” Poster Contest winners were honored with an award ceremony. All 84 entries will be displayed through Sunday, Sept. 23 in the library’s Children’s Section.

The event was sponsored by the library and the Kushkushkee Trail Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Award winners for the poster contest were:

  • Kindergarten: 1st Place, Pearl Sjol, Eden Christian Academy; 2nd Place, Lucas Flot, Eden Christian Academy; 3rd Place tie Caleb Rizzutto, Eden Christian Academy, and Emmalyn Gray, Eden Christian Academy.
  • 1st and 2nd Grade: 1st Place, Avnika Ashok, Wexford Elementary; 2nd place,0 Garrett Anderson, Ingomar Elementary; 3rd Place, Sydney Piccolino, Avonworth Primary Center.
  • 3rd-4th Grade: 1st Place, Benjamin Galeotti, homeschooled; 2nd Place, Hunter Chimenti, Blessed Francis Seelos Academy; 3rd Place, Sheridan Cunningham, Blessed Francis Seelos Academy.
  • 5th-6th Grade: 1st Place, Anukta Ashok, Eden Hall Upper Elementary; 2nd place: Sarah Anne Shaffer, homeschooled; 3rd place, Kaitlyn Hetherington, Ingomar Middle School.
