Communities throughout the North Hills are playing host to Halloween activities with a focus on frightful fun. Here are some of the upcoming events to celebrate the things that go bump in the night:

Northland Library

• Halloween Party Like It's 1999: Thursday, Oct. 26, 7 to 8 p.m. A 1990s-themed party for adults featuring screening of the classic film “Hocus Pocus,” plus spooky crafts, fun and quick costume ideas and classic snacks such as Pop Rocks and Fun Dip. Come dressed as your favorite character from the decade and prepare for an evening full of tricks, treats and totally ‘90s fun. Registration required online or by calling the adult reference desk at 412-366-8100, ext.113.

Bradford Woods

• Halloween parade: Oct. 27, 6 to 8 p.m. Meet in the lower parking lot of Bradford Woods Community Church, 4836 Wexford Run Road.

• Trick or Treat, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m.

Franklin Park

•Halloween costume party: Oct. 28, 1:30 p.m., Blueberry Hill Park Activity Center, Blaine's Way. Children's games and activities. Treat bags for everyone in costume.

• Trick or Treat, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m.

Marshall

•Halloween parade: Oct. 28, 1 p.m. Meet on Northgate Drive and parade to the Marshall fire station for refreshments, crafts and entertainment.

• Adult Horror Movie Night: Oct. 28, 8 p.m. Knob Hill Park Elias Fry Barn. “The Shining.” Free. Registration required at: http://bit.ly/2wNRgCj.

• Trick or Treat, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m.

McCandless

•Ingomar VFD Halloween Parade and Open House: Oct. 28, 5 p.m. Participants will meet at Ingomar Elementary School on Ingomar Road and parade to the fire house for games, refreshments, snacks and fire safety education materials.

• Trick or Treat, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m.

Ross

•Youth Halloween Party: Oct. 28, 1 to 3 p.m., Ross Community Center. Pumpkin carving, games, crafts, costume contest and treat bag to take home. Cost is $10 per child. Sign up online at: http://bit.ly/2xxE2Ol or in person at the community center by Oct. 20.

• Trick or Treat, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m.

West View

•Halloween parade: Oct. 30 6:30 p.m. Costumed kids and pets will gather at Highland Avenue and Perry Highway. West View residents must sign up at the borough building to receive free treat bags and to be entered in the costume contest.
