Poster contest celebrates Constitution Week
Elementary students from schools across the North Hills participated in the fourth annual “We the People” poster contest in celebration of Constitution Week — a commemoration of one of the nation's most important founding documents.
Sponsored by the Kushkushkee Trail Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, students designed posters that can be used to teach students in the future about the Constitution.
An awards ceremony was held at the Northland Public Library, which cosponsored the contest and places entries on display in the Children's Section during the Sept. 17 to 23 celebration.
The award winners were:
• Kindergarten — First Place: Anna Jancy, Richland Elementary; Second Place: Emma Ash, Eden Christian Academy; Third Place: (tie) Siri Sjol, Eden Christian Academy and Ori Gomez, PA Cyber.
• First and Second Grades — First Place: Avnika Ashok, Peebles Elementary; Second place: James Hetherington, Ingomar Elementary; Third Place: Rebekah Shaffer, Eden Christian Academy.
• Third and Fourth Grades — First Place: Laila Tuffiash, homeschool; Second Place: Max Kohser, Wexford Elementary; Third Place: Katie Angeloni, Blessed Francis Seelos Academy.
• Fifth and Sixth Grades — First place: Kaitlyn Hetherington, Ingomar Elementary; Second place: Sameeksha Arutla; Third place: Sarah Anne Shaffer, homeschool.
