Veterans visit Eden Hall Upper Elementary students to discuss life in the military

Veteran Rob Wilig gets fired up as he speaks to fourth and fifth graders at Eden Hall Upper Elementary School about serving in the military on Nov. 10. He taught them about the significance of patches on uniforms and showed them where he was stationed in the Army. He served 21 years.

Teacher Tina Beam shared a picture of her great aunt, Hazel Brown Wilson, who enlisted as a telephone operator in World War II to help with communications, after her brother, Dale Brown, and his squadron were shot down. The sister and brother were later reunited at the end of the war in France.

On Friday, Nov. 10, military veterans visited Eden Hall Upper Elementary School to share stories about what life in the military is like. The event is held each year to help the students understand exactly what the meaning of Veteran's Day is and why our country celebrates it.
