Police are investigating a June 13 fire that damaged a Universal Park trailer belonging to the Penn Hills Soccer Association.
The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. on June 13, according to police reports.
The man who reported the fire — who was not identified by police — said he saw a white female and three or four white male juveniles in the park near the trailer.
The group left, headed down Coal Street, and the man called 911 after he saw smoke and flames coming from the trailer shortly afterward.
Both parks and recreation director John Scaglione and another neighborhood resident told police they'd seen a similar group (one girl and three or four boys) in the park before, according to police reports.
Police were unable to locate the suspects in the area.
A representative for the Penn Hills Soccer Association told police the trailer housed cases of spray paint, trophies, soccer nets, concession-stand food and other basic equipment valued around $3,000.
Penn Hills Soccer Association officials did not respond to calls for comment.
The trailer is accessed by a side door that is normally padlocked.
One of the responding firefighters on scene said the side door appeared to have been pried open, according to the report filed by Ptlm. Geoffrey Agreen.
The padlock could not be found.
