Penn Hills has announced its 2017 paving program.

The municipality plans to pave 25 streets and two parking lots within the municipality at a cost of more than $1.1 million.

More than $900,000 will be spent paving Cimarron Drive, Colonial Village Drive, Evergreen Drive, Idlewild Road, Cyress Hill Drive, Mount Avenue, Rinaldi Street, Verona Road, Oakmont Street, Sylvan Lane, Monroe Street and Flamingo Avenue,.

Also, Clair Avenue, Glenfield Drive, Hathaway Court, Haliford Drive, Alcoma Drive, Elias Drive and the parking lot of the No. 7 Volunteer Fire Department on Universal Road near Rodi Road..

Some streets will be paved with $190,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds. They are:

Mark Drive, Sampson Street and the William McKinley Community Center parking lot. Council set Irwin and Filmore streets are alternates, meaning they may not be repaved because of budget constraints.

A. Liberoni Inc. of Plum will perform the work.

Public Works Superintendent Jerry Nosal said three other streets will be paved by municipal public works crews. They include Kansas Street, Return Street and Beverly Drive.
