Penn Hills School District to host safety talk at the high school

Penn Hills School District will host a safety discussion for eighth grade and high school students and families.

It is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. April 24 at the high school, 309 Collins Drive.

There will be a panel of student athletes and coaches, representatives from the municipal police department, United Way, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape and Dr. Liz Miller from UPMC Children's Hospital.

“It is an informational session for high school safety,” district Professional Development & Funding Coordinator Stefanie Raspotnik said. “We are hoping to get eighth grade students and parents there before they start at the high school next year. We are informing parents about the safety procedures that are in place at the high school and also sharing information about the supportive partnerships and programs we have.”

District officials are calling the event We Care. No registration is required. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

“It's a great opportunity for students and parents to see what resources are available at the high school, everything from social to physical safety,” district Spokesperson Teresita Kolenchak said.
