Penn Hills Police added five new officers to its roster Monday night.

The new officers are Steffan A. Shaw Jr., Louis Cuccaro, Christopher Frederick, Jared Rothert and George Daniels. They will work under a one-year probationary period before serving on the force, according to Chief Howard Burton.

The addition brings the Penn Hills police force up to 52 officers. Burton said the police department is budgeted for 53.

Mayor Sara Kuhn swore in the officers during the council’s regular meeting.
