A car crashed into the Arby’s fast food restaurant on Lebanon Church Road in West Mifflin around 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019. Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.

A car crashed into an Arby’s restaurant in West Mifflin during dinnertime Friday, narrowly missing a couple of customers as it came to a rest inside the building, officials said.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., the car slammed into the Arby’s customer entrance, stunning employees and at least two people eating or ordering at the time, Clairton emergency services dispatcher Joe Lazur said.

“Apparently, the vehicle came off of the hill and into the store,” Lazur said.

No one was injured, although the driver and two customers received medical evaluations at the site of the fast food restaurant on Lebanon Church Road, Lazur said.

Police did not identify the driver, whom they described only as “middle-aged.” Officials did not immediately report any initial evidence of drug or alcohol use or a medical condition that may have contributed to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

Building inspectors have been notified, Lazur said, and the restaurant will be boarded up until repairs are made.
