Community College of Allegheny County plans skilled trades fair

CCAC’s Allegheny campus in Pittsburgh’s North Side

Community College of Allegheny County will hold a skilled trades fair for people interested in enrolling in the college’s programs.

The fair will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at the CCAC West Hills Center, 1000 McKee Road, Oakdale.

Featured trades include automotive technology, carpentry, heavy equipment operation, HVAC, ironworking, plumbing, mechatronics, sheet metal working, electrical construction, welding, commercial driver’s license training and film technician.

This is the 11th year for the fair. Hands-on contests and live trade demonstrations will be held throughout the day. Tours for groups of five or more will run from 9 to 11 a.m.

The event will include a panel discussion by women who work in skilled trades to help young women discover opportunities.

CCAC offers more than 25 degree and certificate programs in the skilled trades, all of which can be completed in two years or less.
