Consumer alert issued for Collier restaurant El Paso
Update: The consumer alert was lifted Friday.
Allegheny County Health Department on Wednesday issued a consumer alert for El Paso Mexican Grill in Collier.
Inspectors found 11 violations, including three deemed high-risk, during a visit Wednesday to the Great Southern Shopping Center restaurant.
During the visit, an employee washed his hands without using soap and went back to work, the county inspection report said. Another employee tried to wash his hands at a different sink, but there was no water available.
Inspectors also observed three or four house flies in the kitchen, with fly paper hanging over where clean utensils are kept, the report said.
Inspectors also found a leaky sink and certain meat and vegetables kept at improper temperatures.
The owner of the restaurant declined comment Wednesday because the county inspectors were on site.
