Fatal crash closes Parkway East, Second Avenue in Pittsburgh
A fatal accident Saturday afternoon on the Parkway East has closed a portion I-376 from Oakland to Downtown Pittsburgh and a portion of Second Avenue.
The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety tweeted that the Parkway East, also known as Interstate 376, is closed from the Fort Pitt Bridge in Downtown to the Squirrel Hill Tunnel.
Also closed is Second Avenue, from Brady Street to the 10th Street Bridge.
Officials from Allegheny County reported that the accident occurred on I-376 eastbound near the Oakland exit.
They tweeted that it involved pedestrians who were reportedly thrown from the Parkway onto Second Avenue below. They are reporting that I-376 is closed between the Grant Street exit and Forbes Avenue exit.
In their own tweet, state police said I-376 will remain closed for several hours. They asked for the public’s patience.
