Hampton residents want answers about principal's leave of absence
The Hampton Township School Board on Monday heard from people upset that middle school Principal Eric Stennett has taken a leave of absence with little explanation given.
District officials have said Stennett plans to explore opportunities in higher education. The school board approved a leave for him last week and named Marlynn Lux acting principal for Hampton Middle School for the 2016-17 school year.
School district Solicitor Howard Schulberg said Monday the board cannot discuss the reason for Stennett's leave because it is a personnel issue.
Also, the board on Monday named Roberta Good as acting assistant principal for the middle school. Good was principal at Wyland Elementary from 2003 to 2015, when she retired with 40 years of service to the district. She will be paid at a per diem rate of $480.
In other business, district building and grounds director Richard Farino announced Monday that tests for mold spores at Wyland Elementary School have had negative results.
