Landslide closes Verona Road, knocks out power in Penn Hills
Verona Road in Penn Hills is closed due to a landslide that swept a hillside into a nearby creek, according to the Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department.
The slide happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The slide pushed trees onto power lines, knocking out power in the region, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI.
About 280 Penn Hills customers are without power, according to Duquesne Light.
Verona Road is closed between Lincoln Road and Sandy Creek Road.
Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department said PennDOT and Duquesne Light are handling cleanup, and could not provide an estimate for when the road would be reopened.
PennDOT officials could not immediately be reached.
