Laurel (with a caveat): To averting a strike by Pittsburgh Public Schools teachers

Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Anthony Hamlet
Laurel (with a caveat): To averting a strike by Pittsburgh Public Schools teachers. Kudos to negotiators for the district and the Pittsburgh Federation for Teachers for staying at the bargaining table through their final, 14-hour session to reach a tentative agreement that ensures that the education and lives of about 25,000 students and their families won't be disrupted by a walkout. But with neither side releasing details until the new contract's finalized, the caveat is obvious: The taxpayers who'll foot the bills for its financial terms, and the students whose studies will be affected by its other terms, and their parents, will be the last to know — with the public having no say about what, by then, will be a done deal.
