Pitcairn's first homicide since 2011 was likely a robbery gone wrong, according to Allegheny County Police.

Officers responded about 12:45 a.m. to an apartment on Broadway Avenue for a reported shooting, Lt. Andrew Schurman said.

Authorities identified the man as Anthony Bailey, 27, of Penn Hills.

He died of gunshot wounds of the trunk and right leg. He was pronounced dead at 1:27 a.m. in Forbes Regional Hospital.

Investigators are not certain of a motive, Schurman said, but “it appears the victim may have been the target of a robbery.”

Schurman said witnesses reported seeing two black men fleeing the area, one of whom had a distinctive limp. Police ask anyone who saw or heard anything to contact county police at 412-473-1300.
