McKeesport man accused of shooting, killing his grandfather

A McKeesport man was charged with homicide after police said he shot and killed his grandfather at their home Monday morning.

Jhalil Rakwon Brown, 22, told investigators that he shot Lanny Hutson, 57, whose body was found in a living room behind the couch, according to an affidavit.

Police were called to the Abraham Street home at 6:26 a.m. and found Brown standing on the sidewalk outside, the affidavit stated. A pistol was found on the porch nearby, police said.

Investigators recovered 17 shell casings in the living room and reported in court papers that Hutson had numerous wounds on his head, torso and arms.

An Aug. 17 preliminary hearing is scheduled.
