Mike Pence to appear at private fundraiser for Keith Rothfus in Moon
Vice President Mike Pence will appear at a private fundraiser Saturday in Moon to support the re-election bid of U.S. Rep. Keith Rothfus, R-Sewickley.
Rothfus faces Conor Lamb, D-Mt. Lebanon, in the newly redrawn 17th Congressional District, which includes Beaver County and parts of Allegheny and Butler counties.
A Tuesday visit to Philadelphia by Pence drew protesters who called for the Trump administration to stop separating immigrant children from their parents at the southern border. Trump has since ended the separation policy but the administration hasn’t announced plans to reunite separated children and their parents.
Pence’s Tuesday visit was to support Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner.
Pence visited Western Pennsylvania in February when he traveled to Bethel Park to support Lamb’s last opponent, Rick Saccone, who lost a March 13 special election. Pence raised $250,000 for Saccone in an afternoon reception, Pence’s spokesman said at the time.
Rothfus and Lamb are running against one another in a new district after the state Supreme Court redrew the state’s congressional map.
A campaign finance filing from the end of April showed Lamb had about $1.8 million and Rothfus had about $1.6 million.
