Monroeville police vehicle involved in crash on William Penn Highway
A Monroeville police officer in an SUV was involved in a three-car crash in the 3700 block of William Penn Highway Monday, injuring one of the other drivers. Lt. Andrew Schurman of the Allegheny County Police said the police vehicle was passing through the intersection, near the Holiday Center, at 12:05 p.m. when the wreck occurred. Schurman said the injured driver was hospitalized. He would not name the officer and said he did not know how fast the officer was going. Schurman said investigators have not determined what caused the accident and that county police are investigating. Monroeville police chief Doug Cole said the Monroeville SUV was headed toward Churchill to assist with a narcotics-related arrest.
