Background: Carmona served as an Army officer from 2002 through 2009 in both the active and reserve forces, making several deployments in supporting roles to Afghanistan and Iraq. The association became involved in the Steel City event both to support the Pennsylvania National Guard’s program and to donate unused funds to local guard units’ family readiness groups.
