Newsmaker: Carol Behers
Noteworthy: Behers will receive the Allegheny County Bar Foundation’s “Heart of Justice” award next month for her pro bono legal work. In addition to her work in family law at the Downtown firm of Raphael, Ramsden & Behers PC, she works with Neighborhood Legal Services and the Bethlehem Haven legal clinic. She leads a special clinic that evaluates appeals from family court to the Pennsylvania Superior Court, and refers plaintiffs who don’t have representation to pro bono attorneys.

Background: Behers has practiced family law at Raphael, Ramsden and Behers, including divorce, child custody and property distribution and support, since 1989, and became a principal at the firm in 1993. She’s co-authored multiple publications on family law for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and served on its board of directors.
Education: B.A. in political science and history, Duquesne University, 1980; J.D., Duquesne University School of Law, 1983.
