Noteworthy: Rubin, a longtime practicing geriatrician, received the Allegheny County Medical Society’s Richard E. Deitrick Humanity in Medicine Award. The award, which will be presented during a ceremony in March, honors a physician with exceptional integrity and respect for the lives of patients who also serves as a role model for other physicians.

Background: In 1987, Rubin began his career at Shadyside Hospital as the founding chief of a new division of geriatric medicine. There, he founded the Senior Care Institute, as well as an accredited fellowship training program. He has received multiple awards and honors during his career, including being named to “The Best Doctors in America” list multiple times and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the HELP Dissemination Program.
