Noteworthy: MGR Youth Empowerment chose Mansour as its Pittsburgh director. The Chicago-based nonprofit helps youths overcome social and economic barriers. MGR expanded to Pittsburgh in 2008, and serves about 1,600 youth annually in the area.

Education: Mansour has a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Pittsburgh. She did a one-year fellowship, studying public policy and advocacy, at the Coro Center for Civic Learning in the South Side.
Background: The New Castle native moved to Pittsburgh in 2000 to attend college. She was a teacher for the Carnegie Science Center, then became program director for A+ Schools, an advocacy group for improving Pittsburgh Public Schools. As MGR Youth Empowerment's Pittsburgh director, she will oversee three full-time employees and a large group of part-time staff members who are mentors, teaching artists, educators and youth advocates for the group's arts, health, environment and youth advocacy programs.
