Newsmakers: G. Nicholas Beckwith III and Dorothy Boyles Beckwith
Noteworthy: G. Nicholas Beckwith III and Dorothy Boyles Beckwith, the married co-founders of the Beckwith Institute: Patient Care Innovation Today and Tomorrow, were honored last week as 2014 UPMC Senior Services Grand Champions for improving the lives of seniors in Western Pennsylvania and beyond. It is the group's highest award.

Background: The Beckwiths co-founded the Beckwith Institute at Shadyside Hospital Foundation in 1991 to express their gratitude for the compassion and care that Dorothy Beckwith received from doctors and nurses during her recovery from a medical emergency. Nick Beckwith is the chairman and chief executive officer of Arch Street Management, LLC, in Monroeville. Dotty Beckwith serves on the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, Capital Campaign Committee and the Chatham University Capital Campaign Steering Committee, among other endeavors.
Education: He graduated from The Hotchkiss School in 1963 and Brown University in 1967. She is a graduate of Bradford Junior College in 1965, Chatham University in 1981 and Carnegie Mellon University in 1988.
