Paris loves Pittsburgh, French mayor tweets
Paris has a message for Pittsburgh.
The international furor over President Trump's remark about Pittsburgh and the Paris Climate Agreement has elicited a comment of friendship from the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
In a tweet Friday night, Hidalgo said 'hello' and thanks to Pittsburgh and Mayor Bill Peduto.
"Paris loves you," Hidalgo said.
Hi @BillPeduto , #Paris has a message for you and to all the people of #Pittsburgh . #FromParisWithLove #ParisAgreement #Trump pic.twitter.com/GORaseJ40G

Peduto responded in French.
Mme le maire, nous vous remercions des chaleureux voeux du peuple de Paris @CityPGH , 82 villes américaines et leurs maires sont avec vous. https://t.co/i9T6jQLeuZ

Trump pulled the United States out of the historic pact earlier this week, a decision that some viewed as striking a major blow to efforts to combat global warming.
Peduto made worldwide headlines this week as he expressed his opposition to Trump's decision. Hidalgo, who has no known ties to Pittsburgh, was elected mayor in 2014.
