Penn Hills police are investigating an armed robbery of a Family Dollar along Milltown Road.

Allegheny County emergency dispatch reported police activity in the area about 9:28 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Chief Howard Burton said a black man wearing a black hoodie and dark clothing brandished a black handgun and demanded money from the store’s cash registers.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money, Burton said. No injuries were reported.

Burton said a K-9 unit tracked a scent to a nearby parking lot, where police believe the man left in a vehicle. No description of the vehicle was given.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911.
