Thousands of runners took to the streets on Sunday morning for the Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.
Runners competed in the 13.1-mile half-marathon or the 26.2-mile full distance, while thousands of others turned out to cheer them on.
Tribune-Review photographers Dan Speicher and Shane Dunlap were on the course all morning.
What is MS?
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease of the central nervous system believed to afflict about 2.3 million people worldwide. It disrupts communication between the brain and the rest of the body when the immune system attacks and damages the protective myelin sheath that covers nerve fibers.
Symptoms vary dramatically and may include varying levels of spasticity, vertigo, vision problems, cognitive impairment and numbness. While there is no cure, there are a variety of disease-modifying therapies that may help manage MS symptoms.
