Pittsburgh man convicted in 2015 Homestead killing
A judge on Monday convicted a Pittsburgh man of third-degree murder in connection with the 2015 shooting of another man in Homestead.
Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Thomas Flaherty convicted Carlo Harris on two counts of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of tampering with evidence, in addition to the murder charge.
The conviction came after a non-jury trial in front of Flaherty last week.
Harris, 24, of the city's Arlington neighborhood, was arrested Aug. 27, 2015, two days after he fired multiple rounds into a car driven by 25-year-old Daren Scott.
Scott was driving on East 12th Avenue when Harris opened fire, causing him to crash into another vehicle. Two passengers fled.
Police found Harris in a nearby apartment, though he did not live there. A search of the apartment turned up a dismantled Glock semi-automatic pistol, the pieces of which had been hidden throughout the apartment.
Investigators matched nearly a dozen spent shell casings to the Glock.
Sentencing for Harris is set for Aug. 7.
