An Allegheny County Jail inmate died Monday afternoon, according to jail officials.
The inmate, who the medical examiner has not yet identified, experienced difficulty breathing about 12:20 p.m., according to Warden Orlando Harper.
Medical staff and correctional officers performed CPR on the inmate until paramedics arrived, he said. Paramedics transported the man to a hospital where he was pronounced dead about 1:44 p.m., Harper said.
