Aptly named Reddit user 1map_dude1 has finally answered Pittsburgh's most pressing question.
What would the city look like if every Subway restaurant was a subway station?
The result looks a lot like a real transit map, with 6 lines and 41 stops.
By comparison, the T light rail network has two lines and 52 stops.
The T only covers downtown and locations south of the city, while 1map_dude1's sandwich-based transit system covers a much broader area.
However, the T has the slight advantage of actually existing.
The Port Authority of Allegheny County, which manages the T, was impressed with 1map_dude1's work.
The map was posted to the Pittsburgh subreddit and to the subwaysubway subreddit, where a small group of dedicated users give similar treatment to cities all over the world.
It's not perfect. As an astute Reddit user pointed out, the map misspells “Munhall” as “Manhall.”
Pittsburgh isn't 1mapdude1's first accomplishment. He's also mapped Manhattan:
Portland:
and Cleveland, to name a few.
As of Thursday a partnership between the Port Authority of Allegheny County and Subway restaurants has yet to be announced.
