Study: Pittsburgh International Airport 7th best for passenger satisfaction
Pittsburgh International Airport is the seventh best medium-sized airport in North America for passenger satisfaction, according to J.D. Power.
The annual J.D. Power 2018 North America Airport Satisfaction Study measured passenger satisfaction with terminal facilities; airport accessibility; security check; baggage claim; check in/baggage check; and food/beverage/retail, a news release said.
The study, in its 13th year, is based on responses from more than 40,000 travelers in North America.
Pittsburgh International ranked seventh in last year’s study, as well, a J.D. Power spokesman said.
Ratings this year across the board increased to a record high for all factors except security check.
“Several multi-billion-dollar airport construction projects — such as those in Boston, Los Angeles and Chicago — are reaching phases in which passenger disruption and increased traffic will be incredibly hard to avoid,” Michael Taylor of J.D. Power said in the release. “How well these rapidly expanding airports manage throughout these infrastructure projects will provide valuable insight into what’s in store on a nationwide basis.”
Pittsburgh International plans to start construction next year on a massive $1.1 billion project to rebuild its landside terminal , which is set to be complete in 2023.
The study ranked Las Vegas McCarran International and Orlando International as highest for customer satisfaction for mega airports and John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif., the highest among large airports.
