More than 260 backpacks were unloaded Saturday afternoon from cars outside of Royal Flush MC’s clubhouse in Wilkinsburg filled with school supplies for the club’s third annual backpack drive.
“Our clubhouse is here in Wilkinsburg, so wherever you’re at, you got to give back,” said Kevin Smith, the motorcycle club’s president.
Burgers and hotdogs were grilled, cotton candy spun, and popcorn popped — all to be given away.
This is just one of the charitable events the club puts throughout the year.
“We also donate toys to needy kids in the neighborhood around Christmas, and we also donate meals around Thanksgiving,” said Lillian “Babydoll” Willis, club business manager.
Saturday’s backpack drive coincided with the club’s 12th anniversary, and third year that the motorcycle cycle club has been based in Wilkinsburg .
