Bank of America, retail shops coming to former truck rental site in Oakmont
Construction is under way at the old Oakmont Truck Rental site along Hulton Road for a new commercial development.
The property in Oakmont was purchased by 231 Hulton Road Partners LLC for $700,000 on May 18, according to the Allegheny County real estate website.
Its new owners plan to have a small Bank of America customer service center and two other possible retail businesses in a 5,700-square-foot-building.
Borough officials approved preliminary and final project plans Aug. 20.
“We need sustainable growth,” Councilwoman Carrie DelRosso said. “I feel good about it.”
Crews from Lutz & Myers Inc. of Ellwood City were doing structural and exterior work Aug. 23.
Plans were developed through Gateway Engineers. Real estate company CBRE of Pittsburgh represented the owners.
CBRE First Vice President Jason Cannon said the former rental facility’s reconstruction should be complete within the next 90 days for Bank of America to move in.
He declined to divulge other potential tenants.
“There has been significant interest in the high-profile property,” Cannon said. “It’s a very well-located property along a busy corridor. Oakmont’s been a hidden gem for a long time.”
The stretch of Hulton Road from Third Street to Allegheny River Boulevard is busy with development.
Oakmont Bakery is moving to the Third Street intersection across from Riverview High School. It’s expected to be open some time early next year.
Plans for a Mattress Warehouse at the old Sunoco gas station site at Hulton Road and Allegheny River Boulevard were recently approved. Ohio developer Cocca Development will demolish the current building.
The lot is about 26,100 square feet with the store being 4,250 square feet, according to planning documents.
Council approved a restaurant liquor license transfer for Speedway along Hulton Road in early August. The gas station and convenience store will be remodeled so it can sell beer and wine.
