Plum Video Network has collaborated with the borough to produce a new television show.

“Boro Spotlight” premiered this month on public access Comcast channel 19 and Verizon Fios channel 29.

“We don't want just boring programs,” show host Vince Lagrotteria said. “We think that people will watch it if they're fun and entertaining and give information, too.”

The first guest was newly sworn in Mayor Harry Schlegel. The show will feature other borough officials and community leaders.

“It's an opportunity for us to spotlight what's going on in Plum,” Borough Manager Michael Thomas said. “Everybody kind of chooses their own media. Some people read newspapers. Some people go online. Some people watch TV. This is another opportunity for us to get information out to the residents.”

Thomas said the hope is residents and business owners will come up with ideas for new shows and get involved in production.

Those wishing to do so can contact the borough at 412-795-6800 or email Thomas at mthomas@plumboro.com.

Plum started working with PVN last year as part of an $18,000 annual agreement to produce and air television programs highlighting what is going on in the borough. It has produced “On the Agenda” and “Inside Plum: The Show.”

“Agenda is a short segment in which Lagrotteria interviews Thomas about issues that will be voted on during the council's monthly business meeting. The segment airs shortly before the meeting starts.

“Inside Plum: The Show” is a 15- to 30-minute feature about all things Plum — which could include a piece about day-to-day operations, the police, fire or other departments within the borough.
