Statement: As the town of Oakmont continues to grow, it is important to continue to move our town forward while keeping our traditions. As new homes are built, young families move in and our business community continues to blossom, it is important our mayor helps transition these changes. The borough needs someone who cares, not only about our traditions but also Oakmont's future. It needs someone that by working with council and being a mayor of the people will make sure traditions are upheld and our community can move forward. I am someone who wants to see that happen in Oakmont, where I was baptized and my family lives.

Christopher Whaley, 33

Employment: Distribution supervisor for Giant Eagle; former Pittsburgh and Oakmont police officer

Statement: Public safety, specifically the police department, are important. I plan to address this by advocating for more full-time officers and invest in department training and education. I will institute a proper field training program for new officers. Officers develop skills early in their careers and need a strong foundation to build on. Full-time officers are dedicated to one community and develop relationships with their community. It is essential we have a full-time officer on every shift. Community relationships and trust help the police to better serve you. The mayor is the chief law enforcement officer of the borough; therefore, experience is everything.
