A pizza delivery man in Beaver Falls shot and killed a man who stabbed him during a robbery attempt early Friday morning, Beaver Falls police said.

The alleged robber died about a block from the confrontation with the pizza delivery driver, which was reported at about 12:20 a.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Second Avenue, Chief John Deluca said.

The driver, whose identity was not revealed, told police he was confronted by the suspect while walking back to his vehicle after delivering a pizza. The driver was assaulted before being able to retrieve the gun from his car and fire one shot at the robber, police said.

The driver was treated for his wounds at an unidentified Pittsburgh hospital, police said.

Beaver County Coroner David J. Gabauer could not be reached for comment Friday morning and police did not reveal the victim’s name.
