A former server at retired Steelers star Hines Ward's restaurant has been charged with stealing $73,000 over a three-year period.
Kimberly Cook, 53, of Cranberry was arrested Thursday by the Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department on a charge of theft by unlawful taking, according to court records.
Cook is accused of taking cash payments from customers at Ward's Table 86 restaurant in Seven Fields and ringing them up as gift cards so she could pocket the money, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV. The alleged thefts occurred between August 2015 and October 2017.
Ward told the television station that he expects to recoup the money through insurance.
Cook faces a preliminary hearing Dec. 8, court records show. She is in the Allegheny County Jail on a parole violation for a previous conviction, the station reported.
