USPS schedules ‘passport fairs’ for first-time applicants

The United States Post Office is hoping to make it easier for travelers to get a passport.

The USPS announced Monday they will be offering passport fairs at some locations this week to help residents get their first-time passports.

An appointment can be made, but isn't necessary to attend the passport fairs.

The fairs will be held at the following locations:

April 6

• Cranberry, 240 Executive Dr., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

April 7

• Cranesville, 10283 E. Crane St., from 8:30 a.m.-noon

• Natrona Heights, 1715 Union Ave. from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

• New Castle, 435 S. Cascade St., from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

• Oil City, 302 East Second St., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

• Bradford, 115 Boylston St., from 10 a.m.-noon

• Marienville, 107 S. Forest St., from 10 a.m.-noon

• Uniontown, 47 East Fayette St., from 9 a.m.-2 -p.m.

• Indiana, 47 South Seventh St., from 9 a.m.-noon

Travelers will need to bring the following items:

• A completed DS-11 application, which can be found on the Department of State website at https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html

• Proof of U.S. citizenship

• Proof of identity such as a valid driver's license, government employee ID or military ID

• Photocopies of U.S. citizenship and identification documents to be sent with the application

• Payment (debit and credit cards are not acceptable forms of payment)

• Passport photo

Passport applications for children under 16 years old have special requirements. Visit www.travel.state.gov for more information.

The USPS has also launched a new appointment scheduler on their website to make it easier to schedule an appointment. Visit www.usps.com/scheduler to schedule an appointment.
