Temporary moving road closures that were expected to take place last week in Verona were rescheduled to Tuesday.
Closures would begin around 7 p.m. at Center Avenue between Allegheny River Boulevard and Diamond Way, move to South Avenue at Diamond and then James Street at Diamond.
Inland Pipe Rehabilitation crews will be cleaning and televising the sewers in the area. The work is expected to conclude early Wednesday morning.
Borough Engineer Matthew Pitsch said the three areas will not be closed all at once, and sections would be reopened as work is completed.
The work is part of a larger project to prevent storm water from entering the sanitary sewer system, and help reinforce pipes to avoid further costly repairs, Pitsch said.
IPR was awarded the $79,214 project to be paid in large part through a $53,154 federal Community Development Block Grant allocated by the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development. The rest will come from borough funds.
Another round of temporary road closures is expected to take place mid-January as part of the project.
