The Heritage Valley Health System will eliminate its rehabilitation services at locations in Sewickley and Brighton Township as part of a joint venture at a HealthSouth Corp. facility in Leet Township, the health system announced Thursday.
The two organizations will jointly own the 44-bed, in-patient HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley.
Services from Heritage Valley's Beaver hospital in Brighton will relocate following the completion of the joint venture.
Construction of a 55-bed in-patient facility on the HealthSouth campus at 303 Camp Meeting Road in Leet is expected to begin this year and continue through 2019, according to a Heritage Valley news release. Once completed, both the Heritage Valley and HealthSouth Sewickley rehabilitation centers will close and be replaced by the the new facility.
“In these ever-changing and ever-challenging healthcare times, (we are) pleased to enter into this joint venture with HealthSouth,” Heritage Valley CEO Norm Mitry said in a release. “This type of creative relationship with an organization such as HealthSouth, who has an excellent clinical reputation, enables Heritage Valley Health System to continue to provide high quality, cost-effective rehabilitation services to ... the communities that we serve.”
Peter Mantegazza, president of HealthSouth's northeast region, said the joint venture will “allow HealthSouth Sewickley to carry on its well-known and respected legacy as a premier provider of comprehensive medical rehabilitation services long into the future.”
