Following a rash of resignations and redefining positions, Apollo is hoping to move forward after a series of appointments Thursday night.

Borough council appointed Ron Polka as public works foreman and Brandon Bowersox as meter enforcement officer.

Council hopes to have Bowersox help out in public works on an as-needed basis and will make a decision at a later date.

Scott Andreassi of the Charlton & Charlton law firm was appointed solicitor, replacing Timothy Miller. Andreassi is the former Armstrong County District Attorney.

Deanne Shupe was appointed part-time borough secretary/treasurer. Council recently made the position part-time due to budgetary concerns.

CPA Edward Opst will be the borough’s auditor and Andring Services will be in charge of payroll and e-files.

Council members said salaries of Thursday’s appointees have yet to be determined.

Councilman Dennis Gabrielli resigned, effective Thursday.

Council President John Kautz said interested parties should contact the borough office at 724-478-4201.

Council hopes to appoint Gabrielli’s replacement on Feb. 21.

Mayor Cynthia Virostek will be Apollo’s Uniform Construction Code representative and Councilwoman Nancy Walker will be on the Apollo Area Business Association board.
