Tarentum residents spotted an uninvited guest running around their neighborhood Saturday — a coyote.

One resident was able to get video of the brown, white and gray coyote running through the streets. Others posted about seeing it on social media.

Ricky Schuller was preparing to head out on a hunting trip when he thought he saw the coyote run past his house on West 11th Street.

"We walked down the street and looked and there it was," he said.

East Street resident Beth Sieminski said she has seen a coyote in the area before, but not often.

She said they likely come down the hill from Bakerstown Road, just above where she lives.

Sieminski said she's not scared by the sighting, though.

"All my guys have been hunters," she said.

West Ninth Street resident Liz Bigenho said she hadn't seen the coyote despite it being spotted right behind her house.

"I walk the dog back there all the time," she said. "I think it's scary."

She said she worries about the kids in the neighborhood who play outside and wait for the school bus along the streets.

According to the Pennsylvania Game Commission website, the eastern coyote is primarily nocturnal, but often hunts during daylight hours, especially in the morning. Coyotes are found throughout Pennsylvania.

Attempts to contact Tarentum Police were unsuccessful.
