Grandview Upper Elementary School pre-kindergarten students react to a lobster in the seafood section of the New Kensington Giant Eagle while touring the supermarket on Friday, April 20, 2018.
It was field trip Friday for pre-kindergarten students at Grandview Upper Elementary School.

The kids, ages 3 to 5, from the Highlands School District school in Tarentum went over the river to Giant Eagle in New Kensington.

Their teacher, Marian Ayres, said they were personally delivering thank-you cards to the store's cashiers for collecting donations for the nonprofit Education Partnership, though which they and students at 100 schools in the Pittsburgh area receive school supplies.

Giant Eagle staff educated the children on the five food groups, letting the children eat samples along the way.
