A movie filmed in the Alle-Kiski Valley has found its way to Netflix.
" I Am Number Four " has been added to the streaming service, Netflix announced in an email to subscribers.
The sci-fi adventure movie was released in theaters in February 2011 , after having been filmed in the Pittsburgh area and the Alle-Kiski Valley in 2010.
Vandergrift played the part of fictional Paradise, Ohio, where one of nine fleeing aliens seeks refuge from those hunting them. Other filming locations included Deer Lakes Park in West Deer and Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville.
Hundreds in the area sought roles as extras .
Based on a novel of the same name, the movie starred Alex Pettyfer , Timothy Olyphant , Teresa Palmer , Dianna Agron and Callan McAuliffe . It was produced by Michael Bay .
The movie suffered from negative reviews, and has a 33 percent "rotten" rating among critics at Rotten Tomatoes . Audiences liked it a bit more, with 57 percent giving it 3.5 stars or higher.
It had a production budget of about $60 million, but grossed only about $55 million in the U.S. It did better overseas, making about $95 million in foreign markets.
"I Am Number Four" is rated PG-13.
