A Lower Burrell man sustained significant injuries from a motorcycle accident on Route 56 in Allegheny Township shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday.
John Mango, 47, was taken by ambulance to a Pittsburgh trauma facility, according to dispatchers and John Fontaine, Allegheny Township police chief.
Mango was riding on Route 56 heading west toward Lower Burrell, near the intersection of Spooky Hollow Road, when he lost control of his motorcycle for an unknown reason, Fontaine said.
Mango, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and hit the guardrail.
The accident is still under investigation.
