A man accused of killing New Kensington police Officer Brian Shaw last month is to appear at a hearing Wednesday, and others charged in connection with the case have court dates this week.

Rahmael Sal Holt, 29, of the Natrona neighborhood of Harrison is accused of running from a vehicle that Shaw was stopping for a possible traffic offense about 8 p.m. on the night of Nov. 17. Shaw gave chase, and Holt is accused of firing at Shaw in the 1200 block of Leishman Avenue.

Holt is charged with murder of a police officer, first-degree murder, illegally having a gun and having a gun without a permit. He is in the Westmoreland County jail with no bond.

Holt's hearing is scheduled Wednesday morning before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. in New Kensington.

Shaw, 25, who had been on the New Kensington force since June, was fatally injured. He died the night of the shooting in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison.

Holt was arrested three days later in Pittsburgh. A SWAT team arrested Holt at a home on Ladora Way in the Hazelwood section of the city, along with others including his mother, Sherry Holt.

Hearings are scheduled Thursday before Pallone for three women accused of helping Holt evade police for three days.

Lisa Danea Harrington, 31, of Woodmont Avenue, Arnold, is accused of three counts of hindering prosecution by allegedly hiding Holt, giving him help and lying to investigators.

Lakita Caine, 40, and Taylor Mitchell, 19, both of the same address on Victoria Avenue, New Kensington, are charged with giving false information to police when asked about Holt's whereabouts.

Sherry Holt, 47, is scheduled to have a hearing Wednesday in Pittsburgh Municipal Court on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution.Officials said the overall investigation still is under way.
