A New Kensington man is facing several charges after officials found him driving around the city with a loaded crossbow last month, allegedly attempting to hunt deer.

He also allegedly had multiple packets of illicit drugs, marked “Hot Sauce,” on him, officials said.

William Robert Fundy, 28, was charged via summons by the Pennsylvania Game Commission on Monday, according to court paperwork.

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, as well as summary charges of unlawful taking or possession of game or wildlife, using a vehicle to attempt to hunt game or wildlife, and having a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

The incident happened about 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 21, according to state Game Warden Michael Papinchak. New Kensington Police Officer Jason Kerr responded to a call in which the caller claimed to have heard shots, saw multiple people, and gave the description of a white car with tinted windows.

Kerr found a vehicle matching that description on Baker Street, and allegedly saw Fundy stop and get out.

Authorities say that when Kerr approached the car, he saw a loaded crossbow on the front passenger seat and requested help from the game commission.

The car Fundy was driving didn’t belong to him, according to Papinchak, and Fundy was driving with a suspended license.

Papinchak spoke with Fundy at his mother’s home. Fundy told Papinchak that he found deer while driving the car and attempted to kill them.

He also told Papinchak that he had drugs, according to court paperwork.

Officials contacted the car’s owner and searched it. Inside, they found the crossbow, drugs, and at least one used packet of illicit drugs.

A preliminary hearing for Fundy is set for 10:30 a.m. Jan. 10 before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. in New Kensington.
