Police: BB gun vandals target car windows in Brackenridge, Harrison, Tarentum
A group of juveniles is suspected of using a BB or pellet gun to cause hundreds of dollars of damage to vehicles in three Alle-Kiski municipalities over the weekend, police said.
Newer vehicles were apparently targeted in Brackenridge, Tarentum and Harrison, several of the victims said.
At least five vehicle windows were shot in Brackenridge and at least one each in Tarentum and Harrison.
Two vehicle owners said Monday they want the vandals to pay the insurance deductibles and all other costs to make repairs.
The vandals shot the side window of a Chevrolet Malibu owned by Natalie Homa. The car was parked at Corbett Street near East Ninth in Tarentum.
“I found it at about 7:15 a.m. on Sunday,” she said. “We just got the car.”
Stieren Avenue was also the site where vehicles were damaged.
Candice Rae said she also got up early and found the large rear window of her new Ford SUV damaged.
“I saw black stuff on the ground and that’s unusual because we keep the area clean. The whole back window was (shattered). And the driver’s window had a BB hole,” she said.
“This is a little crazy. We have video that we are turning over to police,” Rae said.
“We were not the only car on the block that was hit. A Brackenridge officer told me they caught the kids. I called my insurance company, but I would still have a big deductible. We don’t need this. My husband was furloughed by PPG,” she said.
Police supervisors did not return calls for comment.
